Smoothboi Ezra announced as an emerging talent finalist in the Glastonbury 2022 competition

Glastonbury announced the finalists for their emerging talent competition 2022.  They are supported by PRS for Music and PRS Foundation.  

The acts, chosen from thousands of entries, are: Amahla, Crae Wolf, English Teacher, Lewis McLaughlin, Nia Wyn, Smoothboi Ezra, SOFY and Zola Courtney. The eight acts were selected by Glastonbury judges from the longlist of 90 artists which was compiled by 30 of the UK’s best online music writers.

This year’s invite-only final will take place on Saturday 30 April, 2022.

The winners of the free-to-enter competition will be given a slot on one of the main stages at Glastonbury 2022. They will also be awarded a £5,000 Talent Development prize from PRS Foundation to help take their songwriting and performing to the next level. Two runners-up will also each be awarded a £2,500 PRS Foundation Talent Development prize.

RTÉ 2FM has released its 2FM Rising list for 2022, with Smoothboi Ezra along with nine other brilliant acts being tipped for success this year. Tracy Clifford announced the list on her 2FM show on Monday and between January 31 and - 4 February 4, Rising Week will see the station broadcast exclusive new music and interviews with the up-and-coming artists. Irish acts who have previously featured on the prestigious list include Fontaines D.C., Denise Chaila, Dermot Kennedy, Jafairs, Lyra, Pillow Queens, Wild Youth, JC Stewart, The Murder Capital, For Those I Love, Monjola, Gemma Dunleavy and Plantain Papi. - RTE
